WIERDLINGS, Part 2

(Continued from Part 1)

About 5 months after "HERE COME... THE WIERDLINGS!", I did the follow-up.  Since the bulk of the 1st episode had focused on Willard and his journey to another dimension to gain power, this one spotlighted the "team" in action from the start.

SCIENCE-FICTION THRILLERS (or SCI-FI THRILLERS for short) was an anthology I started in 1971, inspired by Warren's EERIE magazine, to do all sorts of stories.  Science-fiction, horror, even super-heroes, strange as that might seem.  I actually knocked out 20 issues of this thing, and the last 3 both featured The WIERDLINGS.  As was our strange custom at the time, these "full-size" comics were done in a horizontal format, rather than a vertical one, perhaps because my brother & I tended to be more influenced by watching television than actually reading comics.  You can tell by the scans how cheap the paper was, too... yet it's managed to survive all these years intact.

This story begins on Broadway in Camden.  Yep.  The WIERDLINGS actually takes place in the same "universe" as The GUN!-- although it would take me until 2005 before I wrote a story where Bob Jawarski & Willard Wier crossed paths. The man driving the 1974 Ford Pinto is actually based on my Dad, while the character of the Chief of Detectives, making an early appearance here, would soon become a regular in The GUN!

"WIERDLINGS ON THE PROWL!"  Enjoy!
